Description: Secretin belongs to the glucagon family. This protein is an endocrine hormone and its major site of production is the endocrine S cells located in the proximal small intestinal mucosa. The release of active secretin is stimulated by either fatty acids or an acidic pH in the duodenum. This hormone stimulates the secretion of bicarbonate-rich pancreatic fluids and has also been shown to regulate the growth and development of the stomach, small intestine, and pancreas. Secretin deficiency has been implicated in autistic syndrome, suggesting that the hormone could have a neuroendocrine function in addition to its role in digestion.

Description: The protein encoded by this gene is a member of the G-protein coupled receptor family. This protein is one of four receptors identified for prostaglandin E2 (PGE2). This receptor may have many biological functions, which involve digestion, nervous system, kidney reabsorption, and uterine contraction activities. Studies of the mouse counterpart suggest that this receptor may also mediate adrenocorticotropic hormone response as well as fever generation in response to exogenous and endogenous stimuli. Multiple transcript variants encoding different isoforms have been found for this gene. [provided by RefSeq].

Description: HIV1 performs highly complex orchestrated tasks during the assembly, budding, maturation and infection stages of the viral replication cycle. During viral assembly, the proteins form membrane associations and self-associations that ultimately result in budding of an immature virion from the infected cell. Gag precursors also function during viral assembly to selectively bind and package two plus strands of genomic RNA. HIV1 Gag p17, the HIV1 matrix protein is produced by the digestion of its precursor Gag p55 by HIV1 protease.

Description: The Fluoro™ Protease Assay Kit is designed for the quantitative determination of proteases present in a protein sample. The assay uses fluorescein isothiocyanate (FITC)-labelled casein as a general protease substrate. The fluorescein label on the FITC-casein is highly quenched. When the proteases present in the sample of interest digest the FITC-casein substrate into smaller peptides, the quenching of the fluorescence label is relieved and the fluorescence of the substrate is increased. The fluorescence of the FITC-labeled peptide is measured with excitation at 485 nm and emission at 530 nm to determine protease activity. The kit detects picogram level of proteases present in the sample.

Description: CELLvo™ Healthy Human Chondrocytes (50-70y) are primary, uncultured cells isolated from recently-diseased cadaver cartilage from donors between 50 and 70 years old. Healthy status is determined by macroscopic inspection of the tissue using a modified Outerbridge (1960) scale in order to distinguish healthy joints from those with signs of osteoarthritis. Cells are isolated by enzymatic digestion prior to cryopreservation.

Description: Recognizes a cell surface glycoprotein of 80-95 kDa (CD44) on lymphocytes, monocytes, and granulocytes (Leucocyte Typing Workshop V). Its epitope is resistant to digestion by trypsin and chymotrypsin. The CD44 family of glycoproteins exists in a number of variant isoforms, the most common being the standard 85-95 kDa or hematopoietic variant (CD44s). Higher molecular weight isoforms are described in epithelial cells (CD44v), which are believed to function in intercellular adhesion and stromal binding. CD44 immunostaining is commonly used for the discrimination of urothelial transitional cell carcinoma in-situ from non-neoplastic changes in the urothelium.
