Description: Myostatin (GDF8)is expressed uniquely in human skeletal muscle as a 12 kDa mature glycoprotein consisting of 113 amino acid residues and secreted into plasma. Myostatin is a member of the transforming growth factor beta superfamily of secreted growth and differentiation factors that is essential for proper regulation of skeletal muscle mass. Studies have shown that myostatin could play an important role in cardiac development and physiology.

Description: May function as part of a signaling pathway that acts to regulate the size of the body fat depot. An increase in the level of LEP may act directly or indirectly on the CNS to inhibit food intake and/or regulate energy expenditure as part of a homeostatic mechanism to maintain constancy of the adipose mass.

Description: Two types of 15-lipoxygenase (15-LO) have been discovered and characterised, both of which metabolise arachidonic acid (AA) to produce 15(S)-hydroxyeicosatetraenoic acid (15(S)-HETE). 15-LO-1 oxygenates AA at both C-15 and C-12, whereas 15-LO-2 exclusively oxygenates C-15 of AA. Human 15-LO-2 has a molecular mass of approximately 76 kDa and exhibits approximately 40% identity to the reticulocyte 15-LO-1.2,3 expression of 15-LO-2 appears to be restricted to prostate, lung, skin, and cornea and may play a role in the normal development of these tissues.

Description: Streptavidin is biotin-binding protein that was originally isolated from Streptomyces avidinii. In contrast to avidin, streptavidin has no carbohydrate and has a mildly acidic pI of 5. Streptavidin products use a recombinant form of streptavidin having a mass of 53,000 daltons and a near-neutral pI. Streptavidin is a tetrameric protein, with each subunit binding one molecule of biotin with affinity similar to that of avidin. Guanidinium chloride will dissociate avidin and streptavidin into subunits, but streptavidin is more resistant to dissociation.

Description: The tricyclazole CRM may also find the following uses: Determination of tricyclazole content in paddy rice using sliver colloid as a substrate and pyridine as an internal standard by surface-enhanced Raman spectroscopy (SERS). To detect residues of tricyclazole and thiram in pear fruit extracts using SERS. Dissipation studies of penoxsulam tricyclazole and profoxydim in rice paddy systems using HPLC-Diode Array Detection (DAD). Determination of tricyclazole residues in rice using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry (LC-MS/MS) along with the QuEChERS method of sample preparation. Degradation of tricyclazole (TC) in an aqueous solution and real pesticide industry wastewater (RPW) by electron beam (EB) radiation.

Description: The 19S regulatory complex consists of a ‘base’ sub-complex, composed of a hetero-hexameric ring of AAA-ATPases that not only function as the gate-opener to the 20S proteasome but also, in conjunction with two other high-molecular-mass non-ATPase subunits (Rpn2/S1 and Rpn1/S2), as a platform for protein unfolding. The ‘lid’ sub-complex of the 19S complex, composed of non-ATPase subunits is involved in the binding and deubiquitinylation of proteasome targeted ubiquitin conjugated proteins and assists in the transport of substrates through the ‘base’ and into the 20S catalytic core.

Description: Early B-cell factor 2 is a 575 amino acid protein belonging to the COE family of proteins, whose members are all helix-loop-helix transcription factors. EBF2 is a transcription factor which, in synergy with the Wnt-responsive LEF1/CTNNB1 pathway, activates the decoy receptor for RANKL, OPG, in osteoblasts. OPG, in turn, regulates osteoclast differentiation. Lack of EBF2 has been found to cause a small defect in the terminal differentiation of osteoblasts, along with reduced bone mass and an increase in osteoclasts. Localized to the nucleus, EBF2 forms a homodimer or a heterodimer with a related family member.
