Description: PPP1R13B is a member of the ASPP (apoptosis-stimulating protein of p53) family of p53 interacting proteins. The protein contains four ankyrin repeats and an SH3 domain involved in protein-protein interactions. ASPP proteins are required for the induction of apoptosis by p53-family proteins. They promote DNA binding and transactivation of p53-family proteins on the promoters of proapoptotic genes. Expression of this gene is regulated by the E2F transcription factor. This gene encodes a member of the ASPP (apoptosis-stimulating protein of p53) family of p53 interacting proteins. Description: KappaB ras Antibody: KappaB ras-1 ( kappa B-ras-1) and kappaB-ras-2 are two small proteins that similar to Ras-like small GTPases that associate with I kappa B (I kappa B), an inhibitor of the transcription factor NF-kappa B. I kappa B exists in two homologous forms, I kappa B-alpha and I kappa B-beta, although I kappa B-beta contains a unique 47-amino acid region within its ankyrin domain. While inactive I kappa B-alpha-NF-kappa B complexes can shuttle in and out of the nucleus, I kappa B-beta-NF-kappa B complexes are retained exclusively in the cytoplasm. It is suggested that kappaB-ras proteins preferentially bind to the I kappa B-beta form through this unique insert within the ankyrin region, thus modulating the cellular location of I kappa B-beta and regulating the rate of degradation of I kappa B-beta. This antibody detects both kappaB-ras1 and kappaB-ras2.

Description: ASB6 belongs to a family of ankyrin repeat proteins that, along with four other protein families, contain a C-terminal SOCS box motif. Growing evidence suggests that the SOCS box, similar to the F-box, acts as a bridge between specific substrate-binding domains and the more generic proteins that comprise a large family of E3 ubiquitin protein ligases. The protein encoded by this gene belongs to a family of ankyrin repeat proteins that, along with four other protein families, contain a C-terminal SOCS box motif. Description: TP53BP2 is a member of the ASPP (apoptosis-stimulating protein of p53) family of p53 interacting proteins. TP53BP2 contains four ankyrin repeats and an SH3 domain involved in protein-protein interactions. TP53BP2 is localized to the perinuclear region of the cytoplasm, and regulates apoptosis and cell growth through interactions with other regulatory molecules including members of the p53 family.

Description: VARP Antibody: The VPS9 ankyrin repeat protein (VARP) binds to the Rab21, a guanine nucleotide exchange factor that plays an essential role in endocytic trafficking. VARP localizes to early endosomes and is thought to regulate endosome dynamics. VARP also interacts with TI-VAMP/VAMP7, a vesicular SNARE that mediates an exocytic pathway that is crucial to neurite growth. Depletion of VARP by RNA interference impairs neurite growth, suggesting that VARP is a positive regulator of neurite growth.

Description: This gene encodes a member of a subfamily of ADP-ribosylation factor(Arf) GTPase-activating proteins that contain additional ankyrin repeat and pleckstrin homology domains. The Arf GAP domain of this protein catalyzes the hydrolysis of GTP bound to Arf proteins. The encoded protein promotes cell differentiation and migration and has been implicated in cancer cell invasion. Alternative splicing results in multiple transcript variants.

Description: VAMP7 Antibody: VAMP7 is a member of the soluble N-ethylmaleimide-sensitive factor attachment protein receptor (SNARE) family, localizing to late endosomes and lysosomes. VAMP7 is thought to mediate the fusion of endosomes to their target lysosomes as well as other exocytosis events during phagocytosis and neuritogenesis. VAMP7 interacts with the VPS9 ankyrin repeat protein VARP, a protein that localizes to early endosomes and thought to regulate endosome dynamics. Together with CD82, VAMP7 can modulate the signaling of EGFR by regulating its endocytosis from the plasma membrane.

Description: Transduction of extracellular matrix signals through integrins influences intracellular and extracellular functions, and appears to require interaction of integrin cytoplasmic domains with cellular proteins. Integrin-linked kinase (ILK), interacts with the cytoplasmic domain of beta-1 integrin. This gene encodes a serine/threonine protein kinase with 4 ankyrin-like repeats, which associates with the cytoplasmic domain of beta integrins and acts as a proximal receptor kinase regulating integrin-mediated signal transduction. Multiple alternatively spliced transcript variants encoding the same protein have been found for this gene.

Description: BCL3 Antibody: The proto-oncogene Bcl-3, believed to be involved in certain human B cell leukemias, encodes a protein that contributes to the regulation of transcriptional activation of NF-κ-B target genes. BCL3 contains seven ankyrin repeats, which are most closely related to those found in I-κ-B proteins. The expression of this gene can be induced by NF-κ-B, which forms a part of the autoregulatory loop that controls the nuclear residence of p50 NF-κ-B. It contributes to the regulation of cell proliferation. A chromosomal aberration involving BCL3 may be a cause of B-cell chronic lymphocytic leukemia.

Description: UACA (Uveal Autoantigen with Coiled-coil domains and Ankyrin repeats) is a 1,416 amino acid nuclear membrane protein. It was originally identified as an autoantigen in patients with panuveitis, a characteristic of Vogt-Koyanagi-Harada disease, and in patients with Graves' disease. UACA was also later identified as Nucling, an mRNA differentially expressed in F9 embryonal carcinoma cells during cardiac muscle differentiation. UACA appears to function as a pro-apoptotic protein that recruits the apaf-1-pro-caspase-9 complex for the induction of apoptosis to mediate the cell-death pathway.

Description: SHANK3 Antibody: SH3 and multiple ankyrin repeat domains 3 (SHANK3), a member of the Shank gene family, plays a role in synapse formation and dendritic spine maturation. Shank proteins (Shank 1-3) containing PDZ domains are scaffold proteins of the postsynaptic density (PSD) that connect neurotransmitter receptors and ion channels proteins to the actin cytoskeleton and G-protein-coupled signaling pathways. Transcript splice variation in the Shank family influences the spectrum of Shank-interacting proteins in the PSDs of adult and developing brain to ensure normal development. Mutations of SHANK3 are a cause of autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and the neurological symptoms of 22q13.3 deletion syndrome.

Description: LIAR Antibody: Ankyrin (ANK) repeats mediate protein-protein interactions in diverse families of proteins. The number of ANK repeats in a protein can range from 2 to over 20. ANK repeats may occur in combinations with other types of domains. The structural repeat unit contains two anti-parallel helices and a beta-hairpin, with repeats stacked in a superhelical arrangement. LIAR, also known as ANKRD54, is a recently identified ANK repeat-containing protein that is predominantly expressed in tissues rich in cilliated cells, such as olfactory sensory neurons and is predicted to be important to cilia. At least three isoforms of LIAR are known to exist.

Description: Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily. NRCAM is a neuronal cell adhesion molecule with multiple immunoglobulin-like C2-type domains and fibronectin type-III domains. This ankyrin-binding protein is involved in neuron-neuron adhesion and promotes directional signaling during axonal cone growth. NRCAM may also play a general role in cell-cell communication via signaling from its intracellular domain to the actin cytoskeleton during directional cell migration. Allelic variants of its gene have been associated with autism and addiction vulnerability.Cell adhesion molecules (CAMs) are members of the immunoglobulin superfamily.
