Tylosin is commonly used in veterinary medicine. It is used to study protein synthesis at the level of the 50S ribosome, implant site abscess prevention in cattle, disposition kinetics and mycoplasma gallisepticum and mycoplasma meleagridis infections.
Tylosin tartrate inhibits bacterial protein synthesis at the level of 50S ribosome (L27 protein) binding.
